After 25 years as a member of Tollerton Parish Council, Councillor Julian Smith has sadly retired.
The Parish Council would like to say a big thank you to Julian for his tireless efforts in serving the village – his contributions will be greatly missed by all on the Council.
Julian was Chairman of the Parish Council for ten years between 2002 – 2012 and then also vice-chairman until 2016.
Over the last 25 years Julian has listened and worked with village residents – supporting and lobbying for so many good campaigns like Tollerton Action Against Speeding, the Jubilee Wood housing development, prevention of the rail line electrified masts, saving the village pub – and many more, too many to mention!
Julian always gives up his time to help the community and every year has helped organise the village fayre, put up the village Christmas trees, stocked the book exchange, watered the village planters, to name just a few.
As a highly regarded Tollerton resident, Julian has greatly helped all of the village groups and even found the time to be a School Governor at the village school. As a member of the History Group he helped to research the history of the Tollerton Pinfold area and assisted to present a case for its construction during a Council award scheme resulting in a £10k grant for its erection in its current location.
Prior to the council Julian worked as Police Superintendent, receiving the prestigious Queen’s Police Medal (QPM) by HM the Queen at Buckingham Palace for distinguished service. He’s even been a consultant advisor on crime and police to ‘The Cook Report’ TV programme.
