Tollerton Parish Council hosted a tree planting event at the Open Space for the children of Tollerton Primary School to get involved and plant a tree for the Jubilee.

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invited people from across the UK to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’ on Friday 11th March 2022, which marked the 70th day of the year in which The Queen marks the 70th anniversary of her accession.

As trees are so important to the environment, and we had several gaps along the hedge row to fill, we planted a total of six young silver birch trees and marked the occasion with a commemorative Jubilee plaque.

Thank you to Tollerton Primary School for getting involved and joining us to commemorate the occasion. It was great to see the children especially enjoying digging the muddy holes! Also, thanks to James Harrison (from The Treecology Team) who gave expert advice on caring for trees – may the trees continue to thrive and flourish.
